To equip Amber in Valor Mortis, reach character level 5, rest at a lantern, and open Level Up. Select an unlocked plus-marked Amber slot along the bottom of the progression screen, then choose an Amber you own.
Equip or replace an Amber
- Open Level Up at any lantern.
- Select an unlocked empty Amber slot at the bottom of the screen.
- Choose an owned Amber to activate its passive effect.
- To replace it later, return to the same screen, select the occupied slot, and choose another Amber.
Select an unlocked plus-marked slot on the bottom layer of the Level Up screen.

These are character-level requirements. Collecting more Ambers or duplicates expands or improves your choices without advancing the slot-unlock schedule. Catalysts support character leveling; the unlock condition is reaching the listed level.
Why you cannot equip one yet
- You own Amber but are below level 5: Finding an item does not unlock its equipment slot early.
- You are looking in inventory or the first lantern menu: Enter Level Up, then inspect the bottom row. Amber is not a separate top-level lantern action.
- You expected another slot or a particular Amber: Compare your level with the next threshold and check that you own the desired Amber. Filling an empty unlocked slot adds an active modifier; replacing an occupied slot exchanges one effect for another.
